Two major bits of news on the ZU front. One, the next music video “Floormatted” (under the direction of Aaron Martwick) is ready for release. Go to the show page to watch and expect a video premiere party soon.
In other news, due to staging and probable casting constraints, Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew” will be changed to the avant garde staging of “The Rape of Lucrece” (also by Shakespeare). Dates are still pending on this project.
The experimental firebreathing show, “Flight of the Fireflies” will have the second half of its performance on February 18, 2011.
The first half, called “Take Off / The Migration” is themed around insect migration patterns. That performance occurred on October 28, 2010. The second phase, “Exit Diapause”, will be performed February 18 at the GATO Convention (video game, anime and comic book convention). The term “diapause” is defined as the time inwhich insects go into hibernation, before their return migration.
Time of performance is pending.
The two current Zero Untitled shows (“A Vague Absence” and “DJ Oringe – Floormatted”) are in the middle of production.
Aaron Martwick’s direction of DJ Oringe’s newest video, “Floormatted”, is in the filming and rehearsal stage. Several scenes have already been filmed. Two more scenes are in the works, while principal choreography is rehearsed.

“A Vague Absence”, a series of one-act plays (“Sidetalk”, “Three Hours” and David Mamet’s “A Life with No Joy In It”) has officially been cast (see individual page) and rehearsals begin this week.
The first half of 2011 promises to be a busy one for Zero Untitled. The biggest news is that our 50th show is around the corner! So for such a large event, we wanted to go with the god of drama, William Shakespeare. The upcoming calender reads as follows:
ZERO-047 DJ Oringe “Floormatted”
(music video directed by Aaron Martwick)
ZERO-048 A Vague Absence: A Collection of One Acts
“Side Talk” by David Gutierrez, dir. Miguel “Cosmo” Venegas
“Three Hours” by Gabriel Ruiz, dir. Megan Saenz
“A Life with No Joy In It” by David Mamet, dir. Michael Verderber
ZERO-049 [untitled fire-breathing show]
ZERO-050 “The Taming of the Shrew” by William Shakespeare
dir. Michael Verderber
Zero Untitled’s 44th production, “The Unraveling” was performed October 20-21 in the Blue Room. The two performances were very different: the first night had a crowd of only 22 people and they remained generally quiet throughout the production. The second night’s crowd of 47 were laughing at practically everything – even things that weren’t supposed to be that funny. The actors decided to make some last minute changes to the “commercials” of the show, altering the “Vlasic Packles” and adding a “Real American Zeroes” commercial making fun of Verderber. For more info, see the show page.
After a stellar turnout for interest in the forthcoming “Madness in Wonderland“, our cast is officially up! Go to the main page to see the details.
